What's happening in math...

Today in room 154 we worked on our bar graph skills. Together as a class we have been collecting data on who eats a fruit or vegetable during our morning snack or lunch time. Each of us made our own bar graph to record this information. A total for 95 fruits and 60 vegetables were consumed over the last few weeks.

We also had the opportunity to practice our skip counting (the first Multiplication Strategy we are learning) in both practice and word problems. Ask your child to show how they solved the following question...and to write the number sentence! ____x____= _____

We have been reading great stories around multiplication. Today we read "One Hundred Hungry Ants" by Elinor J. Pinczes

This leads nicely into our next multiplication strategy arrays! Tomorrow students will be asked to find a real life example of an array (an artifact...whether object or a picture of) over the weekend and bring it on Monday.
